Dick writes:
Here's MY memory of Sombrero Light. I took a black and white photo sometime in 1951 while approaching the structure. I didn't get the lower portion due to the pitching of the launch so just a few years ago, I finished the job, colorized it and added the boat hanging from the block and tackle. When magnified [picture has been enlarged], you can see the outhouse with a life ring hanging on the side. You can also see the suspended water tanks and the suspended paint locker. To the left is the gangway and the gang plank. On the upper deck, you can see a white door on the left side. That was where I and two others slept. On the right is the galley. Compare that with the one [current picture] that is currently being used. It's DEAD and it grieves me as it's just a skeleton of it's former self.
President's note - hopefully we can restore it to look like that one day.
