Recent Activity
January 19, 2008 The board met and appointed Eric S. Martin to a board vacancy. Eric volunteered to be President if no one else was interested and was quickly elected. Other action included approving a membership meeting and visit to Sombrero Reef Lighthouse to celebrate its 150th birthday. The date was set for on or near Florida Lighthouse Day (September). We will work towards the start of historic markers on land within sight of some the lighthouses starting with one or two to begin with (they cost about $1,500 however, may be able to get a grant for half). Also the board wants to get the four lighthouses not already on the National Register to be included. Tom Taylor's book "Lore of the Reef Lights" may be given to libraries and colleges in the Keys and Miami area. Cost will be looked into to see if a larger order will receive a discount. Our information would be stamped or attached to each book.
April 15, 2008 The expanded website was uploaded. It is now a free standing site, supported by the Florida Lighthouse Association. Thank-you for your help, especially Stan Beckstrom FLA webmaster.
May, 2008 The Board voted for PayPal and it was set up on the website for donations, memberships and meetings.
